The family had disappeared from “Soil New Town.”

Volumes 11  Written by Atsushi Kaneko
Comic Beam(Enterbrain)

Kaneko’s drawing style is known as very unique, much more a poppy pattern than other Japanese cartoonists. The story of  “SOIL” is based on kind of mystery&suspense like genre and starts off with a missing person.

Something strange is going on in “Soil New Town. “The sudden disappearance of a seemingly normal family leads the two detectives to the idyllic town in the middle of nowhere. What looks like a routine case at first quickly turns into a complex and deadly riddle where nothing is what it seems to be…

This work was adapted for television in Japan. The Original(Manga) was nominated for Best Crime Comic at the 2012 Angoulême International Comics Festival and for Best Comic at the 2013 edition.

【Devilchoco Review】
The art relies heavily on black and white lines, with very little tone, giving off strange and eerie effects that go so well with the nature of the story. I was interested to see how the story was going at the beginning, though it was stretched the story out…too much. I wouldn’t say I like it, nor would I say I hate it.

About the author

I Love traveling abroad and reading comic books.

Dots turn into the drawing.
The drawing gets connected with the story, becoming a comic book.
The 2-D world goes beyond the borders and generations to reach us, readers.
This is what I would like to accomplish on Asian-port.
